Happy Monday! I am so excited to share this DIY project with you + my FIRST DIY Youtube video! Well first for my personal work, i’ve made plenty of DIY videos for my past jobs. I just want to jump right in and get to the tutorial.
You’ll Need:
- Bath mat
- Textile medium & Acrylic paint (or fabric paint)
- Iron
I picked up a basic bath mat from Target, I think it was $6. I think this would also be super cute in a blush or mint rug. My favorite colors of course! You could use a fabric paint, but I really like using textile medium so you can just use acrylic paint if you already have it. Mix one part textile medium with two parts acrylic paint. This doesn’t take much paint, I made it with 4 tablespoons of paint and I had too much. Brush your paint on lightly so you don’t create clumps of paint on the rug.
Once you’re finished painting, let the rug dry for 24 hours. Press the rug with a hot iron with NO steam. And your rug is ready to use! Just wait 7 days before washing to let the paint set.

Has the paint worn off at all?

It has come off slightly, but it still looks pretty good. I only wash the mat every few months.
