It only took me 3+ months, but I finally have some art on the wall at my new place! I had been planning on putting up a gallery wall in the living room since the week we moved in, I just never made it a priority. My biggest issue was to figure out how to make a gallery wall without making holes in my apartment walls. But I figured it out, it’s up and I can finally share it with you!
Okay, so I didn’t finish putting photos or art in all of the frames, but that can happen as we find cool stuff. I started out buying frames from Michaels because they were on a great sale and I liked the colors. From there I arranged the framed art on the floor until I liked the look.
I then cut craft paper to match the frames and taped them to the wall with 2 inch spacing between each one. I didn’t want any of the frames to line up exactly, so instead I centered them off the center points of each frame.
Because I am in an apartment I did not want to put nails in the wall, so I used command strip photo hangers. I put two strips on each frame and it worked out perfectly! The frames have been on the wall for a few weeks and haven’t fallen. The strips just stick on to the frame, then to the wall and you leave the wall one for an hour before attaching the frame.
I picked up a DIY clock kit from Target to include in my wall since I needed some more shapes. I stained the wood dark to match the dark wood frames.
I added tick marks with a protractor and filled them in with a gold marker and popped on the gold hardware for a modern look.
I really like the finished look of the dark clock with the colorful frames!
How do you decorate your apartment without using making holes? Let me know so I can try it out!
